The only thing that overthinking harvests is nothing! People might think that it helps them in some way or other, some think that it helps them to have a clear insight into the problems that they come across in their day to day life or to draw out some solutions that can help them make the worsening situations better, unfortunately it’s good for nothing!

“why overthinking is a destructive habit?” , that’s what you are thinking right?

The answer to this question lies in the word “OVER thinking” itself.

“Thinking too much leads to paralysis by analysis. It’s important to think things through, but many use thinking as a means of avoiding action.”
– Robert Herjavek

There is scientific evidence supporting the fact that overanalyzing severely affects an individual’s life in many ways!

A 2013 study published in the journal of abnormal psychology proves the probative fact that dwelling on past, future or any problem severely affects the mental abilities to make decisions and disturbs the sleep cycle.

By now you might have realized that in some way or other rehashing events, problems or shortcomings is indeed a destructive behavior.

“How do I stop myself from dwelling in those isolated corners?” , this question must be revolving round your head for a while now. Its time to unveil few techniques that helped me overcome overthinking.

  1. Plan your day: Most people don’t wake up with daily goals or any vision. They just wake up tired and sleepy having no idea of what to do ahead, this induces their brain to think in an inefficient manner and that eventually leads to overthinking. So before you go to bed today grab a pen and a paper and write down the goals that you have for tomorrow.
  2. Exercise and proper diet: Studies have shown that following a proper diet and exercising regularly improves the brain functioning and helps you sleep more peacefully.
  3. Learn a new skill: Learning a new skill involves a lot of efforts and heaps of patience, this will force you to spend your time working on yourself and indulging yourself in the due process of personal development and will take away those lousy hours that made you sit idle and think endlessly.
  4. Final analysis: This is something that you might not find anywhere else on the internet because its moreover a technique that I figured out while was struggling with overanalyzing. Grab a paper and a pen and write down the things that you regret the most and usually overthink about on one side and on the other side write down how overthinking can solve any of those problems. Don’t be amazed to see the other side blank for the rest of your life!

Here’s a URL link of a video by Prince Ea on overthinking I hope it helps you additionally.
